Alex de Minaurknown as the “Demon”. This is the name – and nickname – of the first opponent of Jannik Sinner at the ATP Finals taking place in Turin. He is a great friend of the number one in the world, who is in the Piedmontese capital, somewhat fortunately. Australian by passport and birth, his mother is Spanish and his father is Uruguayan. And he's a good player, for sure not a champion of the circuit.

In 2023 he even played two finals against the two strongest tennis players around. First he played the Queen's finale – the tournament that inaugurated the grass season, then lost to Carlos Alcaraz. Then in Toronto he reached the end, only to surrender against Jannik Sinner's deadly shots.

The year that is about to end is perhaps the most prolific of the Australian's career. In July after Wimbledon, which he lost in the quarterfinals, he went up at number 6 ATP. He won two tournaments (Acapulco and Hertogenbosch) and lost the Rotterdam final, with Sinner defeating him seven times out of seven. A year of great substance, with 47 victories and 16 defeats, with over 3 million and 700 thousand euros in prizes won, and unfortunately also a hip problem which prevented him from playing the quarterfinals of Wimbledon and above all the Olympics.
