Just after the half hour there was commotion and especially panic during the match between KAA Gent and Standard.

Noah Fadiga was panting on the sidelines after an effort and duel with Andi Zeqiri. Both players bumped their heads heavily.

The winger had a conversation with coach Wouter Vrancken during the injury treatment of his Standard colleague and suddenly collapsed.

Ghent’s T1 was able to catch 24-year-old Fadiga and a medical intervention was quickly requested.

Everyone waited anxiously, but fortunately Fadiga was able to get back on his feet quite quickly. Shaken and to loud applause, he left the field under his own power.

KAA Gent came with “reassuring news” more than half an hour after the fact: “Noah briefly lost consciousness during a stoppage in play, perhaps as a result of a collision a few minutes earlier. The first cardiological examinations have not shown any problem with his heart. “

“To be completely certain about this, Noah will undergo some additional tests at the UZ Brussels. In any case, he is doing fine and thanks everyone for the support.”

In July 2023, Noah Fadiga announced that he had been diagnosed with heart problems. Fadiga had undergone “extensive examination” and assured that he could “continue his career without risk”.

However, that was no longer allowed in France, where he played at Stade Brest. His license was revoked due to a zero-tolerance policy on heart problems.

Fadiga, who then moved to AA Gent, is the son of former professional footballer Khalilou Fadiga, who played for Club Brugge, AA Gent and Inter, among others.

He also suffered from heart problems during his career, but decided to continue playing with a defibrillator. He saved his life when he collapsed during a match for Bolton Wanderers in 2005.
