Coach Mick Byrne is counting on the reinforcement of his players mainly based in Europe to avoid a scenario similar to that of Edinburgh last weekend, where a team composed mainly of Fijian Drua players suffered a heavy defeat 57-17 against to Scotland.

In a strong midfield, Josua Tuisova of Racing 92 and Waisea Nayacalevu of Sale Sharks, captain of the team, are selected. The Waratahs' Vuate Karawalevu is lined up at full-back, while superstar Semi Radradra () occupies the left wing and 's Jiuta Wainiqolo the right wing.

Among the forwards, Eroni Mawi of Saracens is established as left prop, while Temo Mayanavanua of Northampton Saints occupies the second-row position. Fiji are aiming for their first victory against Wales since 2007, in the 60th anniversary of their first tour of Wales.
