This Sunday, November 10, 2024, Raphaël Arnault, LFI deputy for the first constituency of Vaucluse, was the guest of our program “Dimanche en politique” broadcast at 11:10 a.m.
During his interview, conducted by our journalist Thierry Bezer, he notably discussed the evening of violence in Amsterdam during the match against Maccabi Tel-Aviv.
“The people who were in the streets that night were far-right hooligans, and it's okay to call them that” he assures.
The supporters he speaks of were chased and beaten by men in black claiming to act in the name of Palestine and whose videos circulated on social networks. But the day before the match, “Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters tore a Palestinian flag from a building. They vandalized a taxi. In Dam Square, a Palestinian flag was burned”also explained Peter Holla, Amsterdam police chief.
“Are you saying they looked for it a bit?” asks Thierry Bezer. Raphaël Arnault responds: “in fact, it's not even that they searched, it's that they came for that“. The MP then explains that on X, videos show “last March, these same famous Maccabi Tel-Aviv supporters in Athens who lynch young people because they are non-white, on racist grounds.“
There has been violence which is unacceptable, I am not in favor of people being lynched. But they are trying to make us believe that these are ordinary citizens.”

The MP indicates that he follows football closely and assures that these Israelis “sought confrontation in the streets of Amsterdam with racist, provocative chants.”
“Moreover, they claim it on hooligan channels. On social networks, they very regularly claim clashes with weapons in which they are helmeted, armed. They travel for that“, specifies Raphaël Arnault.
