On Thursday, November 7, Israeli supporters were chased and beaten by men in black claiming to act in the name of Palestine. Tensions began on Wednesday, the day before the match. “Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters tore a Palestinian flag off a building. They vandalized a taxi. In Dam Square, a Palestinian flag was burned”explains Peter Holla, Amsterdam police chief.
In retaliation, several taxi drivers attacked 400 Israeli supporters who had come to play at a casino, subsequently exfiltrated by the police. On the day of the match, Tel Aviv supporters chant anti-Palestinian slogans in Dam Square. Another pro-Palestinian group demonstrates. At the end of the match, the situation degenerates into a manhunt. Investigators are counting on the cameras to identify as many attackers as possible. Most Israeli fans were evacuated.
