D1A: Sporting de Charleroi finally returns to victory by winning against Westerlo (1-0)
The Carolos have been chasing a victory since September 15 and thus end a series of five defeats.

Sporting de Charleroi won 1-0 this Saturday against Westerlo as part of the 14th day of the championship. A huge relief for the Zebras who had not tasted victory since September 15.
Remaining on a record of five consecutive defeats (and more generally seven matches without a victory) in all competitions, Charleroi had the obligation, at home, to redress the bar against the Campinois who, conversely, had just signed two consecutive victories in the cup and the Jupiler Pro League.
From the start of the match, the Carolos looked good in their match. Oday Dabbagh (11th), Yassine Titraoui (15th) and Vetle Dragsnes (17th) alerted Koen Van Langendonck but without hitting the target. In the 35th minute, Isaac Mbenza attempted a shot from outside the area which forced the Westerlo goalkeeper to take a corner. A few minutes later, Delavalée came out well at the feet of Griffin Yow (42nd) before easily catching a long shot from the same player (45th).
Rather balanced, the match turned after the hour mark when Daan Heymans opened the scoring with a beautiful curling shot (67th, 1-0). From there, the Zebras gained confidence and brought more intensity into the game, leaving Westerlo little respite. Perfect Guiagon (71st, 77th) and Nikola Stulic (73rd, 75th) were very dangerous, without being able to conclude. It wasn’t anything dramatic since Westerlo didn’t appear the least bit dangerous.
In the standings, this first victory since mid-September allows Sporting de Charleroi to leave the red zone and move up to 9th place with 17 points. Westerlo is 7th with 18 points.
