West Ham player ratings vs Everton; 4/10 liability needs dropping, 8.5/10 star lights up gloomy day

West Ham United played host to Everton at the London Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Julen Lopetegui was a man under real pressure before the West Ham vs Everton Premier League game today, with reports claiming that his job was on the line.

And the result at the London Stadium this afternoon certainly wouldn’t have helped his cause.

What a dismal affair it was in East London this afternoon. No quality, pace, energy or technical ability on display whatsoever!

The West Ham vs Everton clash certainly wasn’t a great advert for the Premier League, that’s for sure!

Lopetegui clearly has no idea what he’s doing and in my opinion, those players aren’t playing for him out there.

But how did we rate the players?

West Ham player ratings vs Everton

That was a really tough watch wasn’t it!

Here’s how Hammers News rated the players’ performances this afternoon.

Lukasz Fabianski 6.5

Solid with his hands but very shaky with his feet. If Lopetegui wants to play a possession-based system, the 39-year-old cannot be the man between the sticks. That said, Alphonse Areola’s not the man for the job either!

Aaron Wan-Bissaka 6.5

I need to see the 26-year-old use his pace to better effect. He was ok today, but I don’t think Lopetegui is using him correctly. We have the best one v one defender in the Premier League playing as an advanced wing-back!

Jean-Clair Todibo 5.5

Comfortable in possession but still way too weak in the challenge for me. Lost numerous physical battles with Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Still a very talented player though, and I expect him to get better as time goes on.

Max Kilman 6

Solid from the centre-back today, but I didn’t see enough of his line breaking passes and ball carrying from the back.

Emerson Palmieri 6

The Italian doesn’t seem to be anywhere near the levels he’s been over the past year or so. Needs to do more going forward, given the technical ability he possesses.

Guido Rodriguez 5

I just don’t think he’s cut out for the Premier League unfortunately. Maybe he’ll prove me wrong, but I just can’t see it right now.

Thomas Soucek 6

Clunky as usual in possession, but you can’t knock his commitment.

Lucas Pack 4

Far too sloppy in possession once again. Paqueta’s mind isn’t in the game right now, we can all see that, and Lopetegui should have dropped him for this match in my opinion.

Crysencio Summerville 8.5

The 23-year-old was brilliant against the Toffees. The only attacker who took the game to Everton and gave their defenders something to think about. His pace and directness offers us something that we don’t otherwise possess.

Jarrod Bowen 5

The captain simply has to do more. He was non existent this afternoon and I don’t see him geeing up his teammates enough. Poor from Bowen today.

Michael Antonio 5

One thing I will say about Antonio is that he at least tries to make things happen, but he’s not the player he once was. His touch was miles off what it needs to be yet again.

Subs:

Vladimir Coufal 5

Proved that he’s nowhere near Premier League quality anymore.

Carlos Soler 4

Completely ineffective performance yet again from the Spaniard.

Danny Ings 5

I feel for him because he’s just not the type of striker who can play up front on his own, yet Lopetegui doesn’t seem to realise this, alarmingly.

Luis Guilherme 5

The 18-year-old didn’t really get involved in the game at all.

West Ham vs Everton Conclusion

It was a really poor performance overall from the boys today.

Had we played against better opposition, we would have been soundly beaten.

There is a painful lack of identity in this team right now, and that stems down from the manager.

The players are strolling around a lot of the time as well, and I think Lopetegui has lost the dressing room.

It’s clear to see that the Spaniard isn’t the man we need to take us on to the next level.

The West Ham player ratings reflect what was a hugely disappointing afternoon at the London Stadium.
