With the recent results crisis at FC Bayern, criticism of Vincent Kompany, who was showered with praise just a few weeks ago, is also growing. Kompany's style of play, in which the record champions' defense is usually very high, is risky and is particularly exploited by high-quality opponents. Now reporter legend Marcel Reif has also spoken out and criticized the Bayern coach in particular for his dealings with media representatives.
Munich – Until recently, the world of Bayern seemed to be in order and Kompany could lead the Munich team back into calmer waters. But with only one win from five games, the significant defeat against Barcelona and nine goals conceded in the last few weeks, the pressure on the Belgian continues to grow.
His dealings with press and media representatives in particular are increasingly viewed critically. Now the reporter legend Marcel Reif also explained that the Bayern coach has to be careful. Reif is particularly critical of Kompany's answers at the press conference after the defeat against Barcelona.
“I get the feeling from Vincent Kompany's comments after the game that he starts answering the media or journalists without wanting to specifically talk about football, as if he wanted to say: 'You don't know anything about football anyway'. He should be careful with that,” the 72-year-old explained to the BILD.

It's not just Reif who seems to have a problem with Kompany's communication style. There were also surprisingly few journalists present at the press conference before the away game against Bochum. Normally the press room is full when the Bayern coach speaks.

But that wasn't the case on Saturday: Only three media representatives took the opportunity to ask Kompany and sports director Christoph Freund, who was also present, their questions. It is normal that there may not be too much media interest at the weekend. But the fact that so few reporters are present, especially after the defeat against Barcelona, is surprising.
