The match between Marseille and Auxerre (1-3) was marked by a deplorable incident from the stands to the field.
Just after AJ Auxerre's third goal, Friday evening at the Orange Vélodrome, a projectile was thrown from the Jean-Bouin stand and landed on the face of Ambre Godillon, the DAZN journalist positioned at the edge of the lawn. Olympique de Marseille apologized, according to information relayed directly by our colleagues live after the match, however Godillon was not able to officiate during half-time and had to let his colleague Smaïl Bouabdellah replace her at off the cuff, especially for the interviews at the end of the first period.
“Football isn’t that (…) I’m doing well”
It was the latter who announced this unfortunate incident some time after the meeting, on the lawn, which led his comrade (hit precisely under the eye) to thank him and him to minimize his contribution: “I only asked two questions, nothing too important.” Then to show his support, with Benoît Cheyrou also present at their side: “We say it with a smile, but there is nothing funny about the attitude of certain people, we will call them that… The incidents in the stands have no place, and this with all the actors, whether players, managers, spectators but also journalists.” Note that the projectile, a priori, did not seem to target her personally.
Godillon was a little incredulous: “I don’t really know what to say, I’m a little shocked. Football isn’t that.” Fortunately more fear than harm, therefore, and she was able to resume post-match interviews on the pitch but also in the aisles of the stadium, for example with Djibril Cissé. The smile was back. A wave of support from colleagues was also triggered online, which again led her to react in writing: “Thank you for all your messages of extreme kindness. I don't really know what to say actually, apart from that I'm okay and that I'm doing well.”
