This Saturday, from the end of the afternoon until tomorrow morning, eastern Corsica will be hit by a rainstorm episode which could lead to flooding.
In connection with the bad weather in Spain and by the spillover effect of the depression which goes as far as Provence, a rainy-stormy episode is expected late this Saturday afternoon in eastern Corsica, placed on orange alert. by La Chaîne Météo*. Due to the expected accumulations in urbanized areas of the plain and on the coast near Bastia, the situation requires special monitoring. The most risky period occurs between Saturday evening and Sunday morning in Haute-Corse. Be careful of the significant risk of flooding. Stay safe and limit your travel.
Total rainfall can reach 80 to 130 mm over the entire episode, locally more than 200 mm, or the equivalent of a month and a half of precipitation in 24 hours. Under the strongest storms, hourly intensities reach 50 to 70 mm/h. In the rest of France, the weekend will often be gray, except in the mountains. In the south-east, strong storms will break out again this Saturday then the sun will return on Sunday.
This Saturday: the most disrupted day of the weekend
A disturbance crosses the south of the country, bringing showers to the southwest, especially south of the Garonne. Remember to bring your umbrella if you are in these areas. Strong, scattered thunderstorms break out around the Mediterranean, especially on the Côte d'Azur and Corsica, while the rest of the country remains under a gray and overcast sky, except in the mountains where the sun should dominate. Temperatures are rather mild for the season, from 9 to 19°C from north to south in the afternoon. It is a little cooler in the northeast, under low clouds.
Sunday: calm, but often very cloudy
The day promises to be calmer on Sunday, but gray weather will persist in the majority of plain regions. Light rain is possible at the foot of the Pyrenees, while isolated drizzle could appear in other regions. Conversely, the mountains and the south-east will benefit from clearings, with the mistral and the tramontane blowing in the Mediterranean which will clear the sky. Temperatures will remain relatively mild: 3 to 14°C in the morning, and 10 to 18°C in the afternoon.
Monday November 11: calm with a northerly breeze
For the last day of this long weekend, gray weather will still be present over a large part of the country, with some drizzle possible in the northeast. A light breeze will blow to the north, accentuating a feeling of freshness. On the other hand, the sun should shine on the southern reliefs and near the Mediterranean, even if the wind will still be strong there. Morning temperatures will vary from 6 to 14°C, with highs of 10 to 19°C in the afternoon.
