A head-on collision between two cars occurred on Friday, around 9pm in Capolago, along the cantonal road. Two people lost their lives. That of a third is in danger.
A 30-year-old Swiss citizen, domiciled in the Lugano area, and his passenger, a 38-year-old Italian citizen, resident in the Province of Varese, died in a head-on collision in Via Carlo Maderno in Capolago, which occurred around 9pm on Friday evening.
The two were traveling by car in the direction of Melano, when the driver, for reasons that the investigation will clarify, lost control of the car, which collided with a car that was traveling in the opposite direction.
At the wheel was a 42-year-old Swiss citizen, domiciled in the Lugano area. His life is in danger due to the serious injuries he sustained.
On site, in addition to officers from the Cantonal Police in support, those from the Mendrisio Municipal Police, the firefighters from the Mendrisiotto Cantonal Rescue Center as well as the SAM rescuers intervened, who after providing initial treatment to the woman transported her to the hospital .
In announcing the news in a note in the middle of the night between Friday and Saturday, the police specified that the two men died on the spot and that Via Carlo Maderno remained closed to traffic while the case was being investigated.
