Large winner of Oyonnax (38-23), Friday during the 10th day of Pro D2, Provence takes control of the ranking with the same number of points as the former leader Montauban, who was very scared against the promoted Nice, and Grenoble, executioner of Aurillac.
Here is Provence again at the controls of the Pro D2. On their lawn at the Maurice-David stadium, this Friday for the 10th day, the Provençaux clearly took the upper hand (39-20) over the poorly ranked Aurillac. Author of six tests, by Pui, Dufour, Piazzoli, Tyrell, Lapègue and Finau, the new leader of the division lined up a second improved victory in front of his audience which allows him to dislodge Montauban from first place. With 31 points, the Montalbanais share this first place with Provence but it is almost a miracle as the now ex-only first in the ranking trembled before having the last word at home (34-30) against the promoted Nice. Until five minutes from the end, the penultimate, still in front, still seemed on the verge of creating a sensation on the Sapiac pitch. Fortunately for this Montauban team leading at the break (21-17), Simon Renda, already author of a try earlier in the evening, had the good idea to score a double when only three minutes to play. A test transformed by Gopperth which prevented the Montalbanais from experiencing a new relapse.
Grenoble has reconciled with Oyonnax
And they are now three co-leaders, since Grenoble also shares the leadership on equal points with Provence and Montauban after its card of the day against Oyonnax (38-23) on a pitch where the FCG nevertheless remained on five defeats. The tries from Farnoux and Baptiste Couilloud, the only two scored by Grenoble in this match, allowed the Isérois to ward off fate. At the end of a week where there was a lot of talk about the ASBH, Béziers made Dax plunge again by inflicting a terrible blow (50-17) on the Dacquois who were also not spared by the news. Brive for its part defeated Colomiers (49-15) at the cost of a second half of great beauty and is getting closer to the leading teams.
