“We are conquerors and hyper motivated”

While the VAFC welcomes the promoted Bourg-Péronnas this Friday as part of the 12th day of the National, goalkeeper Mathieu Michel spoke before the match.

“We are conquerors and hyper motivated. We look forward to our audience to continue this series started with two positive results. Even if we would have liked the victory in Boulogne (0-0), we kept our defensive solidity by showing commitment values. We lacked a little drive to look for even more opportunities and sting a little more. We have a solidity that must be confirmed by adding this little touch of offensive madness to hurt the opponent. But we are very determined for tomorrow.

Against , we also had this solidity while managing to create a lot of opportunities. We are capable of doing both. This requires a lot of movement, generosity, self-sacrifice, and effort for each other. We showed that we were capable of it and that we had character, above all. After the defeat at Sochaux, we had to get out of this negative spiral. We showed that we had the strength of character to do it. The group has resources, I am convinced that we are capable of continuing. Above all, we must manage to string together results, which will bring even more confidence and energy to the group.

A place on the podium after this day wouldn't mean much, the championship is far from over. Even if we would like to be even higher today to meet the expectations expressed, because it is an ambitious and popular club which demands to return to the highest level, we are placed. We could have been higher, there is the potential to have a good season. »

Excluded last week during the match in Boulogne, striker Mathias Oyewusi, Valenciennes' main offensive weapon since the start of the National season, received a 3-match suspension. He is therefore missing the reception at Bourg-en-Bresse, the trip to in the Coupe de and that to QRM, and will return to in mid-December. Note that Rémy Boissier is also suspended for the Bourg-en-Bresse reception this Friday.
