At the break, Olympique de Marseille trailed Auxerre 3-0 in the opening match of the 11th day of Ligue 1 on Friday evening. The Stade Vélodrome showed its anger by heavily whistling Roberto De Zerbi’s players. Quentin Merlin, for his part, made strong remarks at the microphone of DAZN.
OM falls back into its failings at the Vélodrome stadium. After being outclassed 3-0 by PSG 15 days ago during the Classic, the Olympian team did not expect to be led by the same score by Auxerre… at the break of the opening match of the 11th day of Ligue 1. And yet. Lassine Sinayoko (10th), Gaëtan Perrin (43rd) and Hamed Junior Traoré shook the nets, helped by a very passive defense from Marseillais. Despite 75% possession, OM were too clumsy with only 3 shots on target out of 9 attempts. In the Burgundian camp, the 7 shots found the target 5 times for three goals.

Merlin: “I can’t understand what’s going on”
Angry, the Vélodrome reserved a huge bronca for Roberto De Zerbi’s players when they returned to the locker room. “We don’t represent Olympique de Marseille,” Quentin Merlin said, interviewed by DAZN during the break. “I can’t understand what’s happening but we simply have to wake up, out of respect for the club and the supporters. It’s not possible to do that, take 3-0 at home… we have to wake up.”
The second period will be played without some supporters. As against PSG, spectators have already left the Marseille enclosure.
