Asked by Tele-Leisure on the occasion of the release this Friday, November 8, 2024 of his sixth album, ImpostorJulien Doré opens up about the admiration he has for French musical star Mylène Farmer.
Artists can't stop praising Mylène Farmer! After actor Tahar Rahim, it is Julien Doré's turn to express the deep admiration he has for the French music star. A tribute that the Gard singer paid during an interview with Tele-Leisure on the occasion of the release of his sixth album entitled Impostoravailable from this Friday, November 8, 2024… And in which he has fun revisiting pieces from very diverse backgrounds like Alizée, Dalida or even Émile et Images.
Julien Doré pays tribute to Mylène Farmer
On Wednesday August 28, 2024, Julien Doré revealed the first track from his new album, As long as they are sweet, a hit from the 1980s by Mylène Farmer! For Tele-Leisurethe 42-year-old singer explains the choice, anything but trivial, to have opened his album with a cover of the French musical icon, to whom he does not hesitate to send a vibrant tribute: “I have infinite respect for the career and journey of Mylène Farmer… She is someone I had the chance to meet twice and discuss with her. We live in an era where we advocate media overexistence. And she fills the stadiums in the snap of her fingers while maintaining a mystery about her. It sublimates the absence somewhere. This way of leading one's career is so contrary to the times in which we live. I find her inspiring. That's why she opens the album and closes it with Moi, Lolita, a song she wrote for Alizée at the time.
Is Julien Doré an impostor?
Julien Doré titles his sixth studio album Impostor. The reason? We have to go back 17 years, as he tells us. “The title of the album actually comes from a web article 17 years ago. We have to put ourselves in the context that at the time, we are absolutely not hyperconnected. There are no phones or social networks, so I am not aware of what is being said about me from a media point of view. While I'm working on my covers album in the studio, I type my name and the year 2007 into Google. I went to dig through the archives and came across an article published at the time of the Nouvelle Star semi-final, titled: Genius or Imposter? And I admit that I found this notion of imposture very interesting for the title of my record“. Malin !
