Tags against the arrival of Yaël Braun-Pivet were made on the facade of the University of 3. The president of the National Assembly is invited by a student association to talk about her career.

The President of the National Assembly Yaël Braun-Pivet is expected this Friday, November 8 at Jean Moulin-Lyon 3 University for a conference with students. She was invited by a student association, Poli'Gones, to talk about her journey.

But a few hours after his arrival, the entrance to the university was tagged with inscriptions including “Israel Assassin, Yaël accomplice” and “Yaël get out of there”.

Contacted by BFM Lyon, the Jean-Moulin University “condemns in the greatest firmness the unacceptable and scandalous inscriptions which were sprayed on the walls of the Tobacco Factory”. “Justice was immediately seized by President Gilles Bonnet. The conference of the President of the National Assembly will be held,” adds the university.

A demonstration before his arrival

A demonstration against the arrival of Yaël Braun-Pivet was also held in the afternoon, at the initiative of several collectives

Around a hundred people were present, noted BFM Lyon. University security was overwhelmed, with a few dozen demonstrators managing to enter the building. A Palestinian flag was also brandished within the university.

The demonstrators denounce the “unconditional support of a State guilty of crimes against humanity” or the fact that she is “the representative of a government whose action has largely impoverished students”.

The Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau, expressed his “total support” on X. Upon his arrival on site, shortly before 5:30 p.m., Yaël Braun-Pivet told BFM Lyon that it was “damageable that some people prefer invective to dialogue.”

“I wanted to confirm my arrival. (…) I would have found it very serious, in our democracy, not to be able to do so,” continues the President of the National Assembly.

Faced with tags that she considers “difficult” and like “caricatures”, she assures that she will “never” give up defending the rule of law.
