‘They’re not going to just ride off into the sunset’: Dana White finally gives Tom Aspinall some hope

UFC CEO Dana White has offered some hope to Tom Aspinall regarding a potential blockbuster heavyweight matchup. Aspinall currently holds the heavyweight title and has been quite vocal about wanting to unify his title against the winner of Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic.

However, both Jones and Miocic have suggested that this could very well be their last fight. If it turned out to be the case, Aspinall would miss out on what could be the biggest moment of his career.

Speaking about the same during a recent interview with TNT Sports, White suggested that the winner won’t walk away without giving Aspinall his chance to unify the titles. He said:

“I truly believe that whoever wins this fight, just competitively the way that these guys are wired and the reason that they’re both massive legends in the sport, they’re not going to just ride off into the sunset without settling the dispute with Tom Aspinall. When you think about Jon Jones becoming the youngest champion in [UFC] history and all the things that Stipe accomplished, they were given opportunities when they were young. I think that they will reciprocate.”

Jones and Miocic will square off in a highly anticipated heavyweight championship matchup in just over a week’s time. The bout will take place at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York.

While Jones is walking into the fight as a massive favorite, Miocic will certainly not be a walkover. That said, it remains to be seen as to what happens when two of the greatest fighters that the sport of MMA has ever seen lock horns.
