American actor George Clooney participated on Thursday evening, November 7, in the inauguration of a new cinema in this town in Var, the Cinéma Liberté, as reported by Var-Matin. An exceptional presence without being entirely surprising: the star of Gravity and his wife Amal Clooney acquired a Provençal bastide in this town in 2021.
“We are very happy to have settled here, in your department, where we have been extremely well received,” he declared to the 300 people present for the inauguration.

The local media reports that George Clooney received a standing ovation upon his arrival. Present alongside him were Daniel Taillandier, president of the group that owns this new Cinéwest cinema, as well as Didier Brémond, the mayor of Brignoles.
The latter was not his first meeting with the actor. He spoke with the star couple for more than two hours in 2021, on the sidelines of their Var acquisition, to welcome them.
“The exchange focused on how we imagine the city of the 2050s in Brignoles, and what interested him was to see how he could get involved in our city, in this territory,” he then confided to BFMTV.
