Heavy rains hit the Cadaquès region in Spain on the night of November 7 to 8.
A flood was in progress on Friday morning, November 8, in the Cadaquès area in Spain, near Girona, due to the heavy rains which fell on the region overnight. The showers particularly affected the Peni mountain at the top of the town and flowed into the river. The peak of the rains took place between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. when a large quantity of water fell in the space of just a few minutes, reports BFMTV.
New bad weather which occurs a week after the floods which affected the Valencia region and left at least 219 dead and around 90 people missing. And this time too, a lot of damage is to be deplored. “Around thirty vehicles were affected“, in Cadaquès according to the Catalan press agency (ACN). The rise of the river carried 32 cars to the bridge located near a casino, preventing the vehicles from ending up in the sea. We do not count for the No injuries at the moment, according to firefighters, law enforcement and the town hall. The images of the rains are impressive.
Orange alert for several zones
These rains affect eastern Catalonia, the regions of Baix Empordà and Alt Empordà where 100 millimeters of rain fell in 24 hours. This is why they were placed on orange alert, but a return to calm was expected to begin in the morning. Concerning the province of Girona, 100 milliliters of water in 12 hours is expected. This bad weather is expected to continue on Friday, November 8 until at least 1 p.m., but its intensity is expected to decrease. 20 millimeters of rain falls on average in 30 minutes.
