Star Academy – Ebony confides in Brigitte Macron about school bullying: “I was the only black person in my class…”

Wednesday November 6, the inhabitants of Dammarie-les Lys, had the pleasant surprise of receiving a visit from Brigitte Macron ! Indeed, on the occasion of the national week against bullying at school, the First Lady came to the castle, accompanied by Justine Atlan, director of 3018, (the single number for young victims of harassment and digital violence), in order to discuss with students on the subject of school bullying and present to them several measures put in place to fight against this scourge.

Brigitte Macron takes action against school bullying

“C“This is the first subject that came to my desk when Emmanuel became President.” begins Brigitte Macron, “perhaps because I am a teacher, I received a lot of mail from students and I realized to what extent this subject was a destabilizing factor (…) when I read the violence of the messages sent to 3018 I am upset (…) I am here with you today, because you raise enormous awareness among young people” confides the First Lady. And to invite academicians to share their own experiences…

Ebony : “I didn't feel like talking to adults about it.”

Ebony is the first to launch ” I would have liked to know about 3018 before, because when I was in college we weren't aware enough of this kind of help.” she explains to Brigitte. Indeed, the daughter of singer Thierry Cham reveals that she too was the victim of harassment at school.A fake account of me was created on social networks, the person who ran the account initiated conversations and made advances towards several boys in the school and this created a lot of rumors around me. Every time I walked down a hallway I said to myself, 'ah this person thinks that of me'. I only turned against my harassers, but at no time did I have the impulse to talk to adults about it.” remembers the academician.

Ebony : “the witch was always me”

Ebony adds that she was the victim of harassment from kindergarten “In the small section, I was happy to come back to school and meet new people, but I was the only black person, and I had a very bad experience.”. To illustrate her point, Ebony evokes a painful playground memory.we always played 'the witch' and the witch was always me and never the others. I told myself that I was reduced to just that, to being the villain of the story. I think that thing kind of followed me my whole life, because growing up I always felt like people didn't like me. I think that in reality, we should make people aware of the difference” she concluded. This is what is said.
