Vehicle owners who use Pix to pay fines issued by Detran (Traffic Department), in the state of São Paulo, will have the infraction instantly removed from Renainf (National Registry of Traffic Infractions). Until then, the deadline was, on average, two days.
The benefit does not apply to fines issued by other bodies, such as CET (Traffic Engineering Company) agents or radars in the capital of São Paulo.
The automatic cancellation of the infraction benefits, for example, those who have their vehicle seized and can only release it by paying off debts. It can also speed up sales on the used market.
The instantaneity occurs for those who pay the fine during business hours. After that, the operation is completed the next day.
Payment does not, however, eliminate the points from the CNH (National Driving License) record of the person who committed the infraction.
According to Detran, the Baixa Online feature was developed in partnership with Prodesp, a government technology company).
To access it, you must use PagSP, a payment system launched last year to pay public fees via Pix. It is accessed through the Poupatempo app.
The system can also be used to pay licensing, IPVA (Motor Vehicle Property Tax) and other fees.
“The waiting time to which it was subjected, of up to two business days, could cause losses to anyone who needed to release the recalled vehicle or even license the car”, says Lucas Papais, director of Citizen Services at Detran in São Paulo.
The immediate reduction of fines comes in the wake of other resources that seek to streamline the lives of property owners in the state of São Paulo. Since March, Digital Vehicle Transfer has reduced to minutes a process that previously involved days and required physical presence and a series of in-person trips to the transit agency's service points.
To make a digital transfer, in addition to downloading the Poupatempo app, the seller and buyer must have a Gov.Br account at silver or gold levels.
To carry out the procedure, however, it is necessary to have previously inspected the vehicle at a company accredited by the traffic authority, as was the case in the previous process.
The new format, explains Detran, now eliminates the need to go to the notary's office, as it allows digital authenticity to be carried out, without the need for signature recognition for authenticity.
