After completing the final stage of the population and housing census process for the year 2024, the Minister of Interior, Abdel-Wafi Al-Fatit, presented a draft decree to approve the specific numbers for the legal population of the Kingdom, with the aim of approving the final results of the census process that was conducted last September, at the level of the Kingdom in general.

According to the final results of this census, the legal population of the Kingdom on September 1, 2024 is a total of 36,828,330 people, which reflects an increase estimated at approximately 2,980,088 people, or 8.80%, compared to the general census that was conducted in the year 2014.

Regarding the number of families, the census process, according to the document seen by the electronic newspaper “Akhbarna”, resulted in the registration of 9,275,038 families, as this number witnessed a significant increase of 26.82% compared to the census conducted in 2014, that is, 10 years ago. .

As for foreigners residing in the Kingdom, the census results showed that their number reached 148,152 people, which indicates an increase of 71.86% compared to the 2014 census, where the increase was recorded at about 61,946 people.

The draft decree comes according to the breakdown, to reflect its importance in approving these numbers and confirming their accuracy, in preparation for the official publication of the detailed results. After approval of this draft, it will be published in the Official Gazette, and the High Commission for Statistics will be responsible for circulating all data related to the census and distributing it according to the procedures approved in the This matter.

The draft decree is part of the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to collect accurate data and update information related to the population, which contributes to effective planning and formulation of appropriate national policies to achieve sustainable development.
