The Horizons mayor of the commune of Rillieux-la-Pape, Alexandre Vincendet, announced on Tuesday that he had filed an appeal before the administrative court of Lyon against the temporary suspension of traffic in a district where two buses were set on fire last weekend.

Around forty bus stops not served for more than a week. The environmentalist president of the Lyon metropolis and the public transport regulatory authority (Sytral), Bruno Bernard, has decided to suspend until November 11 the service to part of the town of Rillieux-la-Pape, in following the incidents of last weekend. Two buses were in fact set on fire during urban violence committed in the Velette district, classified as a priority in urban policy.

The vast majority must not be penalized by the actions of a minority.he declared in a press release. Attacking a “discriminatory policy”the former deputy announced Tuesday that he had filed an appeal before the Lyon administrative court. Two nights of violence
The drivers are shocked by the events. Friday evening, two buses were blocked by a group of hooded young people who then set them on fire. The drivers had time to get the users off. In a message posted on its social networks, the town hall of Rillieux-la-Pape made the link between this violence and the arrest of a person in the neighborhood a few hours earlier for insulting a person holding public authority during of a wild barbecue attempt. The Lyon public prosecutor's office opened an investigation for “destruction by dangerous means by an organized gang” and entrusted the investigations to the DIPN.
The police officers who intervened at the time of the fire were also attacked, coming under fire from projectiles. One of them was slightly injured, said the prefecture, which deployed CRS to restore calm. A man was sentenced in immediate appearance this Monday for this violence, receiving four months' imprisonment with continued detention. “The court also pronounced the revocation of a previous suspended prison sentence of 6 months”specifies the Lyon public prosecutor's office Figaro. Two other people were sentenced for contempt, to four months' imprisonment with continued detention for one, and 120 day fines of 10 euros for the other.
The day before, Halloween night, incidents had already taken place in the neighborhood. Hooded young people set fire to several cars and trash cans. Several minors, with no criminal record, were arrested for mortar fire that evening. The mayor then raised the possibility, recently voted on in the municipal council, of withdrawing the municipality's social assistance from their families. They are currently being prosecuted before the children's judge for aggravated violence.
