The open question about the future of Alphonso Davies, Joshua Kimmich and Leroy Sané remains. FC Bayern Munich aims to avoid such situations in the future.
Munich – The contracts of Alphonso Davies, Joshua Kimmich and Leroy Sané expire on June 30, 2025 at FC Bayern Munich. What happens next? This is still open. This is also why sports director Max Eberl and sports director Christoph Freund regularly have to answer questions about the future of the stars. There is a risk of the trio losing for free; from January 1st, the national players will be allowed to negotiate with other clubs.
FC Bayern wants to avoid unrest in the future
If this causes unrest, then these problems are of our own making. FC Bayern's new sporting leadership did not manage to extend the players' contracts or sell them early in the summer. As kicker now reports, “contractual ambiguities will be dealt with more rigorously” in the future. The people of Munich want to get back into the “driving seat” and “put the brakes on more strongly” in response to possible demands from the professionals.
President Herbert Hainer therefore pays “meticulous attention” to the numbers. The players are challenged and their performance is monitored more closely. This not only affects Davies, Sané and Kimmich, but also Serge Gnabry, Leon Goretzka and even Jamal Musiala. Their contracts expire on June 30, 2026. In the long run, FC Bayern simply cannot afford to lose stars at short notice for free.
Eberl is in a dilemma
It is therefore a dilemma that Eberl finds himself in. The sports director should keep the sporting quality high and avoid free transfers. On the other hand, his plan also includes adjusting the salary structure and pushing ahead with the change in the squad. After winning the sextuplet in the summer of 2020, salaries shot through the roof. Even clubs from England gulp when they see what the Bayern professionals earn. This should change again.
