The video has more than 11,000 views. But what it shows has greatly irritated three environmental defense associations: Nature Environnement, Mountain Wilderness and France Nature Environnement 74 have filed a complaint against the freestyler Tom Fagès and against his partner, RedBull.

Tom Pagès filmed himself flying on his motorbike, using a paraglider attached to his car, on the heights of Avoriaz. A new concept he called “Ride and fly” (“roll and fly”, in French). The images are beautiful and spectacular, certainly; but it's ” illegal » to do it where he did it, denounce the three associations in a press release published on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. He was “ in the middle of the mountains and in a protected area of ​​Haute-Savoie », they exclaim. “ The circulation of motor vehicles outside of roads classified in the public domain has been prohibited since 2000 in order to ensure the protection of natural areas.. » They assert that it is “ prohibited from driving a motorized vehicle which can degrade natural environments. »

“Deceptive commercial practices”

RedBull, Tom Pagès' partner, is omnipresent in the video: the freestyler drinks a can; his paraglider displays the company logo. “ The Environmental Code provides that it is prohibited to advertise a vehicle in a situation of violation, so as not to suggest that this is legal.insists the press release. […] Thomas Pagès and the company Red Bull France could thus be prosecuted for deceptive commercial practices. »
