Omar Marmoush is about to set new records at Eintracht Frankfurt. But how long will the club be able to keep the sought-after striker?

Frankfurt – Omar Marmoush, who is currently in top form, could break some records at Eintracht Frankfurt. After outdoing club legend Anthony Yeboah with his tenth goal in his ninth Bundesliga game, he could now also set his sights on André Silva, who scored 28 goals in the 2020/21 season, dethroning Bernd Hölzenbein. It seems like Marmoush can do anything. According to information from fussball.news, there is currently little sign that he will leave Hesse in the winter. The Frankfurters don't want to jeopardize their sporting ambitions and the player himself feels very comfortable in the city and in the team.

Eintracht is familiar with the “hype” surrounding their strikers

Eintracht is used to their strikers being in the spotlight. Internally, the hype surrounding the 25-year-old Marmoush is viewed calmly. The Frankfurters have gotten used to the fact that their strikers are in demand. Whether it's the “Buffalo Herd”, Silva or the 95 million euro departure Randal Kolo Muani: top scorers regularly change. The club is pleased with the enthusiasm and is aware of the high quality of Marmoush and his partner Hugo Ekitiké.

The question, however, is how long can Eintracht actually fend off attempts to poach them? Last summer the club stood firm despite Nottingham Forest's €24 million offer being economically attractive. If Marmoush had insisted on a move, the transfer probably wouldn't have failed because of money. However, the circumstances were such that the national player was able to stay. The sale of Willian Pacho for 40 million euros was sufficient.

New CFO admits: “We don’t always sit in the driving seat”

Julien Zamberk was introduced as Eintracht's new CFO on Monday afternoon. He explained: “We want to position ourselves economically so that a player can buy or sell at the strategically optimal time for us. But we don’t always sit in the “driving seat”. Sometimes there are situations where we don’t want to sell but the market doesn’t allow us to do otherwise.”

If top teams like PSG, Real Madrid, FC Bayern Munich or Liverpool come knocking and offer an astronomical sum, Eintracht will hardly be able to refuse in the future. Frankfurt experienced such a scenario on September 1, 2023, when PSG made a mega offer for Kolo Muani despite the closed transfer market in Germany.

A Kolo Muani case should not be repeated

Sports director Markus Krösche would like to avoid such a scenario in the future, but it cannot be ruled out that it could happen again. The proven business model of letting players go if they develop faster than the club and the offer is right will not be changed by the change in the CFO. Nevertheless, the club has developed so rapidly in recent years economically, sportingly and in terms of salaries (over 140 million euros in 2023/24) that the players no longer want to accept every offer immediately. How long this will be the case with Superstar Marmoush remains to be seen. In any case, the challenges remain great for the Hessians.
