IThey were preparing to party early in the morning, they look defeated. On Wednesday morning, Belgian Democrats Abroad met at the Résidence Palace, a stone’s throw from the European Commission, for a breakfast with the press. No muffins on the menu but some local “couques”. At their head, Trip DuBard, the president of the association Democrats Abroad Belgium. A former journalist for the Associated Press (AP), he comes from South Carolina. “We just lost North Carolina,” he said, trying to keep a smile. But we can sense in the expression on his face that he is very disappointed with the results which are shown live on the big connected screen, sometimes on CNN, sometimes on ABC. Harris was at 187 voters, Trump already at 246 at that time, very close to the 270 necessary for his re-election.
