In October 2023, the Supreme Court rejected an appeal, making his conviction final. Director of one of the last large independent media groups in the country, Maghreb Emergent, he had been accused of “foreign financing of his company” and of “undermining state security”.
In an interview with RFI after his release, Ihsane El Kadi welcomed the international campaign in his favor: “It is inevitably impactful on the executive which is guilty of an act of authority and abuse. » He announced that he would resume his profession as a journalist.
