RTÉ will provide extensive coverage of the US Presidential Election across online, television and radio taking viewers from the opening moments on polling day, the counting of votes and when the result is announced.
A live tracker on the RTÉ News app and RTE.ie through the night will bring readers breaking news and the results of the vote across the US. There will also be coverage of all the developments on RTÉ News’s social media accounts.
RTÉ’s Washington Correspondent Sean Whelan will also be providing coverage across all RTÉ News platforms, with live reports, interviews and analysis.
As voters in the US go to the polls today, Miriam O’Callaghan will co-present a special Prime Time programme live in Washington DC. She will be joined by a panel of experts both independent and partisan, bringing viewers the first early results.
RTÉ One television will broadcast a US Presidential Election special programme from 11.20pm which will continue late into the night.
The special programme will be co-presented by Miriam O’Callaghan in Washington and David McCullagh in Dublin.
Viewers will be brought live results, analysis and reaction from a range of guests, along with regular updates from CBS News.
Live television coverage will continue with the simulcast of CBS News’s coverage, beginning at 3.30am and running until 7am on RTÉ One and the RTÉ Player.
The Six One News will be co-presented live from Washington DC today and tomorrow, as Sharon Tobin brings viewers the latest news on polling day and the reaction on the ground.
On RTÉ Radio 1, Colm Ó Mongáin will present an extended edition of Late Debate from 10pm until 1am where he will talk to reporters from across the US about developments in their states.
RTÉ Radio 1 reporter Una Kelly will join the programme live from the swing state of Michigan as the results come in.
Morning Ireland will begin an hour earlier than usual tomorrow at 6am, with presenter Audrey Carville broadcasting from Washington and Cian McCormack in Dublin. They will bring listeners the latest overnight results and indications on who will win the White House.
More detailed analysis will follow across the day on RTÉ Radio 1 with Today with Claire Byrne, the News at One with Rachael English, and Drivetime with Sarah McInerney and Cormac Ó hEadhra.
RTÉ Radio na Gaeltachta’s Máirín Ní Ghadhra will be reporting live from New York with analysis of developments on the station’s Adhmhaidin, Nuacht a Aon and Tús Áite programmes.
Coverage began yesterday and will continue until well after the results are digested on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Donncha Ó Murchú from Nuacht RTÉ/TG4 will be gathering the thoughts of the Irish diaspora on the election, which will also feature across RTÉ Radio na Gaeltachta’s current affairs programmes.
RTÉ’s dedicated US election podcast States of Mind will also be recording special episodes in Washington DC across the week with hosts Sean Whelan and reporter Jackie Fox joined by special guests.
