Chelsea continue to scour the transfer market for a new striker after failing to bring one in during the summer.

Chelsea were desperate to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli but could not convince him to join them in the end.

Missing out on Osimhen has not hurt the Blues too much this season. The team’s current first-choice striker, Nicolas Jackson, has not done a bad job leading the line.

Cole Palmer is the only Chelsea player to have scored more Premier League goals than the 23-year-old. Nevertheless, Chelsea still appear to be looking at other centre-forwards. Viktor Gyokeres is one No.9 who’s been linked to Chelsea.

Chelsea have just watched ’s Jonathan David

Another striker whom Chelsea have recently been linked with is Lille’s Jonathan David.

According to TBR, the Blues sent scouts to watch David in Lille’s draw with in which the 24-year-old scored in.

The game, which took place last Friday, ended 1-1 after David had initially given his side the lead.

This is not the first time there has been talk about Chelsea and the Canada international. It has been claimed that Chelsea enquired about David during the summer.

Jonathan David’s biggest strengths

During his time at Lille, David has proven that he is a very good finisher. For example, last season, he scored 26 goals in 47 appearances.

This term, David already has 12 in 17, showing that the former Gent man can find the back of the net.

Pace is also something that David has in his arsenal. “He’s unbelievably fast,” Theo Bair, David’s Canada teammate, told The Athletic.

The Lille star’s contract expires next summer. He could be a very cheap option for Chelsea if they do want to sign him.

With Enzo Maresca not showing much faith in Christopher Nkunku at the moment, the club may very well need to sign a new forward in 2025. Nkunku has made just one start in the Premier League this season and did not feature against Manchester United last weekend.
