FC Bayern Munich brings an up-and-coming talent into play against Union Berlin, whose loss will probably be mourned for a long time in Barcelona.
Munich – It was only ten minutes to start with. But his first appearance in FC Bayern Munich’s star ensemble filled 18-year-old Adam Aznou with maximum pride. Especially since the Moroccan national player was able to hear words of praise from coach Vincent Kompany and sports director Max Eberl after his professional debut in the German record champions’ 3-0 win in the Bundesliga against Union Berlin.
New star in Bavaria’s sky: Adam Aznou “can be proud”
“He’s young. He can be proud, his parents can be proud,” said Kompany, who substituted Aznou for birthday boy Alphonso Davies (24) in the 80th minute on Saturday. “Now you have the feeling you have an extra player with you,” said the Bayern coach.
Aznou had to wait some time for his professional debut after playing in a few friendly matches in pre-season and making a positive impression. “We are very pleased. We think very highly of Adam. He is extremely talented and has great potential. We are pleased that he has made it to the professional level and hopefully there will be many more games to come,” said Eberl.
Super talent enters the Bayern stage: his appearance is likely to annoy Flick and Barcelona a lot
Aznou has been playing for FC Bayern since 2022. He came from FC Barcelona. He moved to the Bayern campus from the famous La Masia youth academy. And there, in faraway Catalonia, where the Munich team recently suffered a massive Champions League beating, people will be really annoyed now at the latest. Two years ago, coach Hansi Flick’s club let go of a super talent who would actually fit very well with Barca. Aznou was even born in Barcelona, so he had the potential to become a real figurehead for the club. Now Kompany and Bayern can be happy about the youngster.
Aznou actually plays for the second team in the regional league. He also played three times for the U19s in the Youth League this season. “I am very satisfied and proud,” said Aznou after his premiere: “Bayern is one of the best teams in the world. I have to be patient, keep working and always keep at it.”
Adam Aznou celebrates Bayern premiere: “Now he just has to keep working”
That was exactly the recommendation that Kompany gave him after his first professional minutes: “Adam simply did very well in training, but also with the national team. Now he just has to keep working.” (akl/dpa)
