“Surprised” Luc Nilis is part of the Hall of Fame: “Thought I would miss it again tonight”

Luc Nilis has managed to get a place in the Hall of Fame. For the former Anderlecht and PSV striker, the appointment came as a surprise, “because I never really felt appreciated in Belgium,” Nilis said.

223 games in the Jupiler Pro League, 127 goals scored. Luc Nils’ statistics are unparalleled, as are many of his goals.

Yet Luc Nilis never really had the feeling of being appreciated in Belgium, but the attacker is nicely in the Hall of Fame.

“It’s very surprising,” Nilis said. “But it is a huge honor that I can belong to the Hall of Fame with these names. So I am very proud. I always felt that I was never really appreciated in Belgium and that my value and my qualities as a footballer were estimated, partly because I never won a Golden Boot.”

“That’s why I thought tonight would be another evening where you just missed out, that’s why it’s all the more wonderful to be part of it.”

“I would like to thank the supporters. I love you. That’s why you play football.”
