Lazio Cagliari second half of the postponed Serie A

Cagliari loses 2-1 against Lazio, but Ayroldi’s insufficient refereeing weighs heavily on the match. A quarter of an hour from the end he awarded a penalty for a foul by Zortea on Pellegrini, then sent off Mina and Adopo for double yellows at the same time.

Nightmare start for the rossoblù: just over two minutes and, from a free kick from 25 meters by the former Pellegrini which was anything but irresistible, Scuffet lets the ball slip which Dia converts to make it 1-0 with a shot on the edge of the six yard box. There is no immediate reaction, in fact two yellow cards immediately arrive for Adopo and Augello.

In the 19th minute Castellanos takes the ball to the right, shoots from 25 meters and hits the post. Shortly after, Adopo’s shot was blocked, picked up by Zortea whose deflected cross was blocked by Provedel. In the 29th minute, with the advantage given by the referee for a foul on Isaksen by Mina who was then booked at the end of the action, Noslin serves Castellanos on the right, the ball is placed in the middle and Scuffet saves.

Shortly after the half hour Isaksen collects a ball rejected by the Cagliari defense and shoots with his left foot, deflection and corner. From there, however, the rossoblù improved and in the 35th minute did not take advantage of an error by Gila with Luvumbo entering the area from the left and only earning a corner. But on the second try, in the 41st minute, the Angolan breaks the deadlock: he receives the ball from Makoumbou with his back to the goal, turns and finds a deflection from Gila on his right, which displaces Provedel and makes the half-time score 1-1.

In the second half, a sensational double save on the line by Luperto on the same play: first a header by Castellanos, then above all the safe rebound by Vecino. On the other side Piccoli is fouled by Lazzari, who is booked, and takes a free kick from the edge of the box but gets blocked. In the 65th minute, a free kick from the right, a deflection by Romagnoli and a right-foot shot wide by Castellanos.

First changes for Nicola in the 68th minute: Viola and Obert for Gaetano and the yellow carded Augello. But it is a substitution of Baroni that is decisive: Zaccagni, on the pitch in the 73rd minute, converted the penalty to make it 2-1 three minutes later following a foul by Zortea on Pellegrini. Then the protagonist becomes the referee Ayroldi: in the 78th minute he gives the second yellow to Mina for a foul on Castellanos (who gets up as soon as he realizes that he has sent his opponent off) and Adopo for protests following the red card from his teammate. Cagliari incredibly with nine men and no longer had the strength to react, in the 92nd minute Castellanos’ right-footed shot was blocked by Scuffet and Pedro sent the rebound high.
