Sunday, November 3, the lifeless body of a hunter was found with a bullet in the abdomen. The latter took part in a hunt organized by the town of Coly-Saint-Amand in Dordogne. An investigation was opened by the Périgueux public prosecutor's office, reports France Bleu.
Aged 49, this hunter, named Franck, was found dead with a gunshot wound during a hunt organized by the commune. Franck's body was discovered in the middle of the morning at the edge of a path which borders the Gironde stream, in Coly-Saint-Amand (Dordogne).
According to information from France Bleu, the victim was found with a bullet in the abdomen by his hunting companions. They tried for a long time to resuscitate him, but despite all their attempts and the arrival of firefighters and SAMU, he finally died there, at the water's edge.
No leads are ruled out by investigators
Questioned by France Bleu Périgord, the Périgueux public prosecutor's office confirms that the deceased “presents an injury appearing to come from a gunshot”. “The circumstances of death remain to be determined”he adds. An investigation was also opened to determine the exact causes of the hunter's death. An autopsy was requested.
For the mayor of the town, Vincent Geoffroid, “no one knows what happened”even if it suggests a probable “accident”, “maybe poor handling of his rifle”he added. Franck was a farmer and lived with his parents on the farm located a few hundred meters from the scene of the incident.
