We found the secret to seeing the Alpine A524 perform: it just had to rain! This Sunday morning, in exceptional conditions after the postponement of qualifying the day before, Esteban Ocon got up on the right foot and shone in the rain by taking 4th place on the starting grid for the Brazilian Grand Prix. An incredible performance for the A arrow this season, far too often relegated to the back of the grid or to the second half of the table. The Norman signed the best result for the French team in qualifying in this difficult 2024 campaign.
Obviously, this beautiful 4th place on the grid is a perfect opportunity for Esteban Ocon and Alpine to score big points this Sunday afternoon, with a view to the Manufacturers' championship against Williams. The day after the 7th place acquired by Pierre Gasly during the Sprint, the A arrow returned to only one unit of the British team in the ranking and, with the accidents of Alexander Albon and Franco Colapinto during qualifying and their participation threatened for the race, Alpine can grab 8th place among the Manufacturers in the event of a good result.
Esteban Ocon (Alpine), 4th in qualifying in Brazil : “So, no, it doesn’t suit me well [de me lever tôt] but I'm glad I got up at 4:30 in the morning for this! It's cool that such conditions make it possible to level the performance level of all cars. A little disappointed with the last attempt because I think we could have been 3rd: we tried something new and it was a little less good, but it's a superb performance considering the rest of the season. »
