England: Arsenal and City lose, Liverpool ensures

On Saturday, Arsenal lost to a Newcastle team which nevertheless remained five matches without a win in the Premier League (two draws and three defeats), its worst series in more than two years.

The “Magpies” scored quickly on a perfect cross from Anthony Gordon headed by Alexander Isak between the two central defenders Gabriel and William Saliba (12th, 1-0).

On a cross from Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice was very close to saving a point in added time but his header went wide of the cage defended by Nick Pope (90th + 3).

Mikel Arteta's team, beaten 2-0 at Bournemouth then held 2-2 by Liverpool, recorded a third poor performance at St James' Park which maintains its total at 18 points after ten matches.

For its part, Manchester City suffered its first defeat in almost a year in the English championship on Saturday at Bournemouth (2-1), leaving first place to Liverpool, stunning against Brighton (2-1).

After ten days, Liverpool is in the lead with 25 points, two more than Manchester City (2nd, 23 pts), the four-time reigning English champion. The podium is completed by the surprise Nottingham Forest (3rd, 19 pts), winner of West Ham 3-0 on Saturday.

Italy: Juventus moves forward

Juventus got out of its bad patch before facing in the Champions League on Tuesday, dominating (2-0) Udinese on home soil, Saturday during the 11th day of the Italian Championship.

Juve, who had not won for two weeks, opened the scoring after an own goal in the 19th minute, when Khéphren Thuram overtook the opposing defense and his shot, repelled by the post, rebounded on the back of Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye.

Thiago Motta's team doubled the lead with a long shot from Nicolo Savona (37th). Thanks to this fifth victory in Serie A, Juve, who are still undefeated in the championship, moved from 7th to 3rd place (21 points) to come back to the level of Inter Milan (2nd, 21 pts) who face Venice (18th) Sunday.

Germany: Bayern wins big, Dortmund overthrows Leipzig

Decimated by injuries, in crisis and trailing against the run of play, Borussia Dortmund managed to reverse the trend to win (2-1) and inflict their first defeat of the season on RB Leipzig on Saturday evening.

With this victory won at home in their Westfalenstadion, Nuri Sahin's men put an end to a series of three defeats away from their base.

Beaten for the first time this season in the Bundesliga, RB Leipzig remains at 20 points and sees Bayern escape alone at the top of the standings with 23 points, after their home victory against Union Berlin (3-0, double by Kane).

BVB moved up to Bayer Leverkusen, the reigning German champion held to a draw by Stuttgart on Friday (0-0), with 16 points and already seven points behind Bayern.

Earlier, Bayern won on home soil against Union Berlin (3-0). Munich's goals were scored by Harry Kane (15th, 51st), his 10th and 11th goals of the season in the Bundesliga, and by Kingsley Coman (43rd), who is in his third consecutive Bundesliga match with a goal. Kane took the lead in the scorers' rankings, one unit ahead of Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush (10).
