Once again, Fluminense saw a result slip through their fingers at the end of a match. On Friday night, the team drew 2-2 with Grêmio, at Maracanã, in the 32nd round of the Brazilian Championship. After the game, coach Mano Menezes was asked at the press conference what was needed for the team to hold on to the victory. In his view, a crucial error was not made.

— There is no serious error that we can analyze as preponderant or decisive for conceding the goal. We kicked the ball forward, it came back quickly, they were lucky, because the player who made the final pass didn’t even want to give the pass to the player who suffered the penalty, but that’s how it is. When I talk about maturity, it’s not specifically about one or the other, I’m talking about the team. You hold the ball, don’t commit unnecessary fouls so the opponent keeps lifting the ball in your area, things like that, which the players know about – he said.

Fluminense will return to the field for the Brazilian Championship next Friday, when they will visit Internacional, in Beira-Rio.
