The gap was not made at the break, mainly because of Auvergne's indiscipline (10 penalties conceded after 40 minutes), but UBB did not manage to turn the tide of the match. To the test of its third line Swinton (48th, 17-13), Clermont responded almost immediately with a new try behind the lineout (Darricarrere, 53rd). ASM further widened the gap (Massa, 65th), but Bordeaux reacted well at the end of the match to limit the damage (tests from Lamothe, 74th and Matiu, 80th).
