The first figures for the number of participants in the dramatic brawl that occurred in Poitiers this Thursday evening have been revised downwards, contradicting the Minister of the Interior.
Halloween evening turned into a tragedy this Thursday evening, around 10:45 p.m. in Poitiers where a shooting broke out causing at least five injured serious, including one with a vital prognosis engaged. According to police sources, five individuals were seriously injured by gunfire during this shooting in Poitiers, in the Couronneries district. Among them, a 15-year-old teenager is in critical condition after being hit in the head.
The events allegedly began with shots fired in a restaurant located in this area known to be a stronghold of drug trafficking. But while the emergency services and the police took care of the injured, they were attacked by young people. Quickly, the gathering turned into a brawl between rival gangs.
Friday morning, invited on the set of BFM TV and RMC Infos, the Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau mentioned an initial figure of “400 to 600 people” having participated in the brawl, citing the Prefect of Vienne as his source .
However, since then, the number of participants has been significantly reduced. Thus, this Friday at the end of the day, the public prosecutor of Poitiers confirmed the figure of “around sixty participants” in this brawl.
