Bruno Retailleau is traveling this Friday to Rennes, the scene of clashes between drug traffickers which left a collateral victim, a five-year-old child seriously injured by gunfire. A city where around ten shootings have already been recorded since September. The feeling of insecurity is growing in the metropolis.
This is the other burning issue for Bruno Retailleau. In addition to controlling immigration, the Minister of the Interior must face the dramatic consequences of drug trafficking, which has now become almost daily.
The municipal police force could be reinforced
In Rennes, the tenant of Place Beauvau should make announcements to try to stop the series of shootings, particularly in the Maurepas district, the scene of yet another settling of scores on Wednesday, according to our information.
Apart from the reinforcement of the CRS 82, an elite company which arrived this week, the municipal police force could be reinforced, while longer-term responses are studied. The Minister of the Interior could in particular draw inspiration from the famous “clearance” operations launched by Gérald Darmanin, which allowed the dismantling, at least temporarily, of certain deal points.
On site, the police are also calling for additional investigative resources to try to dismantle increasingly organized networks. The State does not play on a level playing field, the police unions essentially assert. Hence the anticipation aroused by the arrival of Bruno Retailleau on site this afternoon.
