A Halloween Super Loto of 13 million euros is at stake this Thursday, October 31. The chances of winning are slim, do you think? Well, not so much according to Stefan Mandel. This Romanian mathematician claims to have developed a method that allowed him to win the lottery 14 times!

La Française des jeux is offering a Halloween Super Loto of 13 million euros this Thursday, October 31. Would you dream of winning it for (almost) sure? Statistically, you're more likely to be struck by lightning, hit by an asteroid, or die in a plane than you are to win the lottery. In fact, for any person, there is on average only one chance in 13,983,816 of winning the jackpot in the lottery… A probability valid for anyone but not for Stefan Mandel. This Romanian mathematician has already won the lottery no less than 14 times! A serial chance which leaves you a little speechless, especially since it is the result of a (really) simple method, which the octogenarian ended up revealing.

Save your loved ones from poverty

Born in Romania into a modest family, Stefan Mandel, a young Holocaust survivor, was working as a mathematician for the Romanian mining consortium when he decided to lift his people out of poverty. His meager income (the equivalent of 81 euros per month) did not allow him to provide for his family's needs, so this young math prodigy then chose to turn to one of his passions: the lottery.

A winning bet for this Romanian who will multiply jackpots over the years, in Romania, the United Kingdom and Australia, to the point of forcing certain countries to modify the rules of their lottery.

A carefully thought-out formula

To do this, the repeat winner has developed a fairly simple strategy: that of buying… all the tickets to offer the maximum number of combinations. But be careful! This method was not applied haphazardly by the mathematician, as reported in 2019 by the British newspaper The Independent. The man followed a very precise formula each time…

First step: calculate the total number of possible combinations. For a lottery whose rule is, for example, to find six correct numbers between 1 and 40, the number of possible combinations amounts to 3,838,380.

Second step: after calculating the number of possible combinations, Stefan Mandel set about finding lotteries whose jackpot was three times greater than the number of possible combinations. An essential step to ensure you recover an attractive amount compared to the money invested in the tickets.

Third step and not the least: invest the necessary sum, sometimes with the help of accomplices, to buy a lottery grid for each of the possible combinations.

Fourth step: deposit the lotto tickets with approved distributors.

Fifth step: hit the jackpot!

In the case of a jackpot of 10 million euros, the ticket of which costs one euro, playing each combination thus allowed, according to this formula, and putting taxes aside, to win €6,161,620!

Quatorze jackpots

Despite the enormous initial investment required and the distribution of profits between the different potential partners, this method allowed Mandel to generate substantial profits. It is therefore no coincidence that the latter repeated the operation no less than fourteen times in Romania, the United Kingdom and Australia.

Enough to arouse the attention of many authorities, starting with the Australians, who ended up banning this stratagem, worried to see the successive gains won by Stefan Mandel. Same fight in the United States where laws now make Mandel's formula impossible.

For the most motivated, however, be careful with this formula! Not only is it closely scrutinized by the authorities, but it can also prove devastating to the bank account if the winning combination is also found by one or more other players.

Because in these cases, the jackpot is automatically divided between each of the winners…
