The DANA that has hit the Valencian Community in recent days has caused distressing situations for many, and this was the case of a young woman who shared on social networks the drama experienced by her father and a group of people trapped in a building on Avenida Doctor Fleming, in Sedaví, Valencia. In the tweet, the young woman asked for help and explained that 12 people, including her father and several elderly people, had been trapped due to the floods, which had reached up to two meters high in that area.
The desperation was evident: since the night before, those trapped could not leave the building and, although they had called the emergency services, access was extremely difficult due to the water level and the power outages. Faced with this situation, those affected sought refuge in an elevated area of the building under construction, waiting for the water level to decrease.
Hours later, the young woman updated the situation on social networks, reporting that her father was finally safe. He explained that, When the water level dropped, he and others trapped managed to get out and walk to a nearby hotel.. Although they didn't have water or electricity in the hotel, at least they were in a safe place. He thanked the support and dissemination on networks, highlighting the importance of these gestures in critical moments. Before that, however, he claimed that his father was still there, “sleeping in horribly bad conditions on a wooden board.”
Social networks, of great help
His public request for help had an impact, as the tweet achieved great interaction, with 4 thousand retweets and 3 thousand likes. Among this group of people there was also a little boy. They were trying to take shelter on the roof of an establishment; specifically, Primaprix.
At first it was difficult for them to contact emergency services and rescue teams, but in the end everything turned out well. However, there is no doubt that this user of X has had to spend a terrible night knowing that her father was facing brutal danger. It must be remembered that at this time there are already 70 people who have died in Valencia and Albacete; and the number will probably continue to grow in the coming hours, when rescue teams can access areas where they have not yet been able to do so.
This episode reflects the vulnerability of people trapped in emergency situations and the anguish of their loved ones, who often depend on the help of the community and emergency services.
