A 25-year-old woman died on October 15 from acute meningitis, despite several calls to emergency services. Driven by her friends, she arrived too late at the emergency room. The Montpellier public prosecutor's office (Hérault) has opened an investigation.
In Montpellier (Hérault), two women are still in shock at the death of their friend, who died at the age of 25 from acute meningitis. On October 15, she called one of them for help. “She tells me that she vomited all night and that she has really bad aches”says this friend. The latter immediately contacted the Samu, the firefighters. Despite three calls, no ambulance was sent. She feels like her suffering friend is not being heard.
1h30 after the first call, her friends finally found a car to take her to the emergency room, but it was too late. “We were two to three minutes from the hospital when her heart stopped. She died in the car with us”says her friend. Was there a malfunction in the regulatory center managed by the Samu? The parents of the young victim have filed a complaint, and the Montpellier University Hospital is committed to providing details on the circumstances of the death. The investigation carried out by the Montpellier public prosecutor's office will of course study the recorded conversations with the Samu operators.
