The Public Ministry of the State of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ) will monitor this Sunday, 27th, through the Operational Support Center for the Electoral Prosecutors' Offices (CAO Eleitoral/MPRJ), the Ombudsman's Office and the Electoral Prosecutors' Offices, the 2nd round of the municipal elections in Petrópolis and Niterói.

The population will be able to report possible illegal acts through an Ombudsman channel created specifically for the election, which is available on the official MPRJ portal (www.mprj.mp.br) or by calling 127, which will be available throughout business hours. voting, between 8am and 5pm.

The channel is available on the Ombudsman's page and the complainant must select the “Demands Related to Elections 2024″ dialog box to forward their complaint, in addition to being able to access various information regarding institutional action in the election. In addition, the CAO Electoral teams /MPRJ and the Ombudsman's Office will be on duty from this Saturday, 26th, and throughout voting Sunday.

Until the 22nd, 3,873 reports of illicit acts related to electoral crimes were received and 232 PPEs (electoral preparatory procedures) were initiated to investigate illicit acts of a civil-electoral nature, 145 actions and representations were filed for irregular propaganda, and four PICs (Investigatory Procedures) were initiated. Examples of electoral crimes that can be reported are such as exit polls, electoral slander, vote buying, distribution of electoral propaganda material from 10pm on the eve of the election until the day following the election, electoral defamation, dissemination of untrue facts, electoral misrepresentation/box 2, electoral insult, promoting disorder damaging electoral work, timeless electoral propaganda and transporting voters on election day.

Performance

In March, the MPRJ created the Support and Advisory Center for Electoral Prosecutors (Naape) of the State of Rio de Janeiro, to provide administrative and technical-legal support to prosecutors invested in electoral functions.

Furthermore, a robot was created specifically to analyze candidate records and identify possible irregularities, alerting prosecutors about issues related to a candidate's eligibility, in addition to analyzing the entire bank of candidate records in an automated way.

The 'Elections 2024' campaign was also launched on the institution's social networks, providing voters with all the information so they can exercise their right to vote and monitor any abuses committed before and during the elections.
