Nations League: triumphs in Belgium, Germany secures its place in the quarterfinals

On Monday evening, Germany won an important victory against the Netherlands in Munich thanks to a goal from Jamie Leweling, thus ensuring their qualification for the quarter-finals of the Nations League even before the last two days.

With 10 points, Julian Nagelsmann’s side are guaranteed to finish in one of the top two places in their group, allowing them to focus on the remaining matches in November against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Hungary.

These matches will determine whether Germany will finish first and gain the advantage of playing the second leg of the quarter-finals at home in March 2025.

On the Dutch side, the situation is more complex. With 5 points, Ronald Koeman’s men are now under threat from Hungary, also on 5 points after their victory against Bosnia. The duel between the Dutch and the Hungarians in Amsterdam on November 16 will be crucial to determine the second qualified team from the group.

At the same time, beat Belgium 2 to 1 during the 4th day of the Nations League A (group 2). Despite a difficult first half and a missed penalty by Youri Tielemans, the Blues opened the scoring thanks to Randal Kolo Muani. Loïs Openda equalized for Belgium before the break, but Kolo Muani again made the difference by scoring the winning goal in the 62nd minute.
