After the sad edition of 2022, the Paris Motor Show regains color in this year 2024. This 90e edition, which will be held until October 20 at Porte de Versailles in Paris, welcomes no less than 400 cars and 50 manufacturers, among other exhibitors. A clear improvement compared to the previous edition.
However, essential brands such as Toyota, Mercedes, Hyundai, Nissan, Opel, Fiat and Volvo are still missing. As for Chinese manufacturers, BYD and Leapmotor responded. But we will note the absence of MG Motors. While newcomers take the opportunity to make themselves known, such as Skyworth or Aito.
The French at home
On the French stand, a certain audacity is felt, notably with spectacular concept cars such as the Renault Emblème, the Alpine A390 or the Duo/Bento quadricycle from Mobilize. For its part, Peugeot is bringing back its Inception coupe and Citroën is unveiling its C5 Aircross concept which foreshadows the future production model.
“Commercial” novelties are not left out among the French either. Like the Renault R4 E-Tech, the Peugeot e-408 or the restyled Citroën C3 Aircross and C4. Without forgetting, among foreign manufacturers, the Dacia Bigster, the Alfa Romeo Junior, the Audi Q5 and A6 e-tron, the Skoda Elroq, the BMW 1 Series, the Kia EV3, etc., already mentioned in our columns.
Lots of entertainment…
Beyond the show at this 2024 Paris Motor Show, numerous exhibitions, conferences and events will take place throughout the duration of the show. A testing center, organized by the Banque des Territoires, allows around thirty cars to be tested for around 30 minutes, on a 5-6 km loop. 90% of the models tested are electric or plug-in hybrids. Proposed by the PFA, “the Electric Factory” also offers an immersion to learn everything about the design of an electric vehicle and the industrial ecosystem in France.
…and exhibitions
The exhibition “We can’t stop progress! » explores automotive heritage and its impact on social life, through twenty emblematic cars of the 20th centurye century to today. As for the “Pop Culture by Movie Cars Central” exhibition, it presents 25 iconic vehicles from cinema and TV series, from the collection of Franck Galiègue. Examples: the Batmobile, the Ford Gran Torino from Starsky and Hutch, the Peugeot 406 from Taxi, the Delorean from Back to the Future 2. The automobile in all its forms.
