Morocco played this Saturday in the qualifying match for the 2025 African Cup of Nations (CAN) against the Central African Republic (5-0). Even if it is automatically qualified as the organizing country, it does not do its opponents any favors and has three successes in as many matches.
For the occasion, Achraf Hakimi wore the captain’s armband. The Paris Saint-Germain full-back had a great match, like the rest of his team, and even scored a very nice goal. Served on the wing by Sofyan Amrabat, he made a sombrero on his ball catch. Then, after a nice one-two in the area with Azzedine Ounahi, he finished with a curling left-footed shot (45th, 3-0).
In addition to his assist for Achraf Hakimi, the former Olympique de Marseille midfielder, on loan to Panathinaikos, scored two goals. The first of a very nice strike from the edge of the area, landing in the Central African window (38th, 2-0). The second in one touch, on a back serve from winger Ez Abde (45th + 2, 4-0).
The Real Betis player also scored the first goal of the match, in the 18th minute. The final achievement was the work of Soufiane Rahimi, who scored on a penalty in the 71st minute, after the outcome of the match had been sealed for a long time. The Central African Republic ranks third in the group with 3 points, one less than Gabon and two more than Lesotho. Morocco is the big leader.
