Police vehicles burned in front of the police station, detainees transferred to

The origin remains “undetermined” for the time being. Several police vehicles were set on fire this Wednesday around 5 a.m. in front of the police station (), according to a police source, confirming information from Dauphiné Libéré. Some were screen-printed and others unmarked, according to this police source who does not give details on the number. But according to Bleu Vaucluse, at least three of the affected vehicles were screen-printed “police”.

The fire also affected the facade of the Cavaillon police station, continues the local media. According to the police, certain people who were in police custody – the number of which has not yet been confirmed – were transferred to the police station (Vaucluse). There were no direct injuries and “only material damage”, the police told Le Parisien.

Seven people indirectly affected

According to France Bleu Vaucluse, the heavy smoke linked to this fire affected two neighboring homes at the police station. These inconvenienced seven people, including a mother and her child, according to local radio. They were taken care of by the emergency services, without having to be transported to hospital.

“Once again a police station has been attacked. In Cavaillon, police cars were set on fire. France is the only European country where police stations are regularly attacked,” reacted the union of police officers and commissioners on X (formerly Twitter). “Support for Cavaillon’s colleagues,” also declared the spokesperson for the Alliance Police union Rudy Manna.

Contacted, the department’s firefighters and the Avignon public prosecutor’s office have, for the moment, not responded to our requests.
