the essential
Shortly after Olympique Lyonnais’ victory over FC this Sunday afternoon, a fight broke out near Groupama Stadium. A supporter was stabbed. OL condemned this violence.

A young man was slightly injured after receiving a stab wound on Sunday during a fight between supporters on the sidelines of the Ligue 1 match between and Nantes, we learned from a source close to the matter. “It happened in a few minutes” at the exit of the stadium, “one person suffered a slight injury following a stab wound to one thigh”, according to this source.

The public partly remained confined in the stadium, waiting for the police and security agents to restore calm, she added. According to the regional daily Le Progrès, the clash took place between OL supporters, several individuals having attacked members of a new collective called “the Six Nine Pirates”. On its X account, the collective mentioned “serious events that occurred this afternoon during the Lyon-Nantes match”, won by OL (2-0).

Violence, whatever it may be, has no place at OL. We very strongly condemn the clashes and attacks which took place in the stadium this afternoon.
These events are unworthy of our coat of arms.
Olympique Lyonnais must remain united and indivisible.

On the social network, the prefect of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region Fabienne Buccio also denounced “unacceptable violence” which “calls for exemplary sanctions”, while thanking the Rhône national police for having “intervened very quickly” .
