Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia has been the man behind the goal again since Platform 2 as Netflix gives way to its 2019 sequel. With a sci-fi element mixed with horror, the franchise continues to excite fans when the film premieres on October 4, 2024.
The platform (2019) has one of the highest audiences on Netflix as a non-English film. So, as the sequel unfolds, we witness tense developments inside the tower-like prison (as shown in the first film) where inmates face challenges on a daily basis.
The filming of the film would have taken place in Spain (Bilbao) where we can see stars of series like Money theft et Game of Thrones taking on leading roles. The Platform 2 this time gives birth to a different inmate who becomes the leader of the rebellion against the cruel method of food distribution inside the “Pit”.
What are the release details of Platform 2?
The first selection of Platform 2 took place at the San Sebastian International Film Festival (72nd edition). However, the film was released by Netflix on its streaming platform on October 4, 2024 and can now be watched with a subscription. There have been no reports regarding its theatrical release until now.
What is the plot of Platform 2?
The vertical prison of Self-management, commonly called the “Pit” from the first part, is back in Platform 2 with a new series of suspense, thrill and horror. The prison is built like a tall vertical tower with a platform filled with food.
With over a hundred floors, the prison is filled with inmates who receive food on their respective levels.
The prisoners, in exchange for clemency or other favors, participate in a cruel game where everyone has only a few seconds to wolf down the food on the platform. According to the rules, the floors must be changed every week.
Those on the upper floors receive fresh food while those on the lower floors are left with only leftovers, leftovers and sometimes even empty plates.
The “Pit” has its rules designed by the inmates to ensure that fairness is maintained: each prisoner eats his favorite food and leaves out the rest. But it doesn’t take long for chaos to be unleashed on the inmates when these rules are not respected.
With an oppressive leader on the loose, the film reaches its climax as the prisoners are mistreated to stay in order.
Who is part of the cast of Platform 2?
Milena Smit and Hovik Keuchkerian will play their roles as Perempuan and Zamiatin respectively. The latter is known for his remarkable work in Money theft. The cast includes Natalia Tena, known for her work in Game of Thrones. She plays Sahabat with Oscar Jaenada as Dagin Babi.
Platform 2 is now available to stream on Netflix.
